New Mexico PARCC/Standards Based Science Assessment
Farmington Municipal Schools
As required by the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 and the NMSA Statute 22-2C-4, the Farmington Municipal Schools will begin assessing its students in March. Students will be assessed with the New Mexico Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (NMPARCC) and the New Mexico Standards Based Assessment (NMSBA) for Science. All students in grades 3-11 will be assessed with the NMPARCC. For the NMSBA Science, the affected grades will be 4, 7, and 11.
The purposes for the PARCC and SBA Science:
The New Mexico Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (NMPARCC) and the New Mexico Standards Based Assessment (NMSBA) for Science are utilized to determine the level at which New Mexico students achieve the New Mexico Common Core State Standards and the New Mexico Content Standards, Benchmarks, and Performance Standards at the school and district level.
To measure the progress of students over time in the tested content areas of reading, math, writing, and science.
The NMPARCC and NMSBA Science are now the graduation assessments.
In addition, the 2017 NMPARCC/NMSBA Science will be used for accountability purposes for the stateís A - F School Rating (Grading) System.
