The Red Apple Continuing Education Reimbursement Program

Mission

The Mission of the Red Apple Teacher Scholarship program is to reward Farmington Municipal School (FMS) District educators for their efforts to excel in their occupation by gaining certifications and licensures that enhance their ability to educate our youth.

Tuition Reimbursement Program

FMS teachers, counselors, EA’s, librarians and ancillary staff may apply for reimbursement for registration fees or tuition for classes they have successfully completed.  All classes must be directly related to their occupation.  Applications will be accepted from January until December of each calendar year.

Amount of reimbursement will be contingent upon the number of requests received and the annual budget for the program.  The award for each applicant will be the actual cost of class/course or a maximum of $500 per year (fiscal year/school year).

If the applicant receives tuition reimbursement/funding from any organization/source, applicants may only apply for the remaining unreimbursed amount.  Official accounting information from the university, college or program sponsor is required.

Reimbursements will be made on a “first come first served” basis until funds are depleted.

All applications and receipts will be reviewed by the Red Apple Continuing Education Reimbursement Program Committee.  Reimbursements will be awarded twice a year.  Reimbursements for the Summer and Fall Semesters will be made in January and reimbursements for the Spring Semester will be made in June.  Checks will be paid directly to successful applicants.

Tuition Reimbursement Application Requirements

1.      Completed Application
2.      Official accounting information from college, university or program for amount of reimbursement requested
3.      Proof class was successfully completed.  Classes that award grades must be completed with a grade of a “C” or better grade.

Class/Course must relate to maintaining or improving the employee’s skills in his/her position or relate to professional goals in the teaching field.  Contact Cindy Lyons at clyons@fms.k12.nm.us (Central Office) for questions.

E-mail Julie Salas at jsalas@fms.k12.nm.us for submission of applications for reimbursement.
