Phil Valdez, Deputy Superintendent

Phil Valdez is in his 30th year in education. Mr. Valdez received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from the University of New Mexico in 1991, Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from New Mexico State University in 2001, and holds a certification in Special Education. Mr. Valdez is in his 18th year with Farmington Municipal Schools, where he has served as an Assistant Principal (Mesa View Middle School), Athletic Director (Piedra Vista High School), Director of Exceptional Programs, Assistant Superintendent, Interim Superintendent, and currently as Deputy Superintendent. Mr. Valdez is a native of Farmington and a graduate of Farmington High School.

The Deputy Superintendent assists the Superintendent in providing leadership and support in a manner that will systemically pave a path for success for all students by institutionalizing, through a systems approach, the infrastructure and mindset of continuous improvement to ensure there is equity and equality for all students, while working to bridge the achievement gap.

The Deputy Superintendent oversees all aspects of Leadership Development and Supervision, School Improvement, Data and Assessment, Support Services, Safety and Security.
