Two resolutions were approved during the School Board’s August 24, meeting:

 

The first resolution calls for the State Legislature to create an annual fund of $250,000 for cost reimbursements for teachers’ fees and materials incurred in the pursuit of National Board Certification, as well as $500,000 to fully fund a $10,000 stipend to every New Mexico teacher and principal who completes or has completed National Board Certification.

The second resolution calls for the New Mexico School Boards Association to support legislation that permits local school boards to make policy and decisions, including issues regarding education as well as student and staff safety.

Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham issued a set of new recommendations related to COVID-19 this afternoon. The new requirements do not affect Farmington Municipal Schools, except in surveillance testing: FMS faculty and staff who have not provided evidence of COVID-19 vaccination (and work on-site) must now participate is testing weekly. The change is increased to 100% of weekly testing of unvaccinated individuals, starting on August 23, 2021.
