On March 12, 2020 New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, with the New Mexico Public Education Department (NM PED), announced the closure of every school district in state beginning March 16 and tentatively ending April 6. This aggressive order was declared as an aggressive, preventative measure to slow the spread of COVID-19, commonly known as Coronavirus, in New Mexico. On March 27, NM PED Secretary Dr. Ryan Stewart announced the closure of all public school district in the state for the remainder of the 2019/2020 school year. During this extended and unprecedented closure, Farmington Municipal Schools  asks students, their families and the community adhere to Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommended preventative practices including social distancing, self-isolation, frequent hand-washing, staying home when ill and coughing into the crux of the elbow.
