Weather delays and closures

To maximize instruction time and opportunities for learning, Farmington Municipal Schools has made several changes to inclement weather procedures for the 2020/2021 school year. In the event school buildings are closed due to snow or other inclement weather, all staff and students will shift to Remote Learning for the day, beginning at their regularly scheduled time. Additionally, there will be no 2-hour delays during the 2020/2021 school year. If buses cannot run at their normal times, all students will shift to Remote Learning for the day, beginning at their regularly scheduled time. Every day of learning makes an impact on a student’s education, especially this year. Families should consider these school days, attendance will be taken and classwork will be assigned and due by teachers as normal.

Remote Learning Day Instructional Plan

  • All students will shift to remote learning from home, beginning at normally scheduled start time
  • If the Remote Learning Day occurs on a Monday, all students will observe Independent Learning Monday as normal. Teachers will use the day for professional development and planning and will not give live lessons.

On Remote Learning Days, meal delivery will be delayed at least two hours and it is possible for both meal curbside pick up and meal delivery to be cancelled. Announcements will be made on the FMS website, social media pages, phone calls and emails to parents regarding food service on Remote Learning Days. Current information about meal sites can be found here

This announcement serves as a reminder that At-School students, as well as staff, should be taking their laptops, chargers and any other necessary supplies home every day.

Remote Learning announcements are made via phone call and email as well as posted on Facebook and as a pop up on district and school websites. Announcements are also sent to local and regional media outlets.

On days that have been shifted Remote Learning Days days all co-curricular activities, extra curricular activities and other activities of the district are canceled unless an exception is made on a case-by-case basis by the Superintendent or his designee.
