Weather delays and closures

Weather delays and closures are announced as early as possible and based on the determination of district personnel with student and staff safety in mind. Delays and closures notification calls are made to parents and staff via School Messenger and also posted on district and school websites and social media pages. The FMS Facebook page can be found here. FMS also reports delays and closures to local media outlets including television stations, radio stations and newspapers.

Please note: any weather delays on Mondays will result in school closures due to the Early Release schedules.

During a 2-hour delay, all schools will begin the school day two hours after their normal starting times. For example, elementary and high schools will begin at 10 a.m. while middle schools will begin at 10:30 a.m. Bell schedules for early release days can be found on high school and middle school websites. The morning sessions at all Farmington Preschool Academies are cancelled during 2-hour delays while the afternoon sessions will occur as normal.

On closure days all co-curricular activities and other activities of the district are canceled unless an exception is made on a case-by-case basis by the Superintendent or his designee.

Weather closure days will be made up during the school year as needed.
